ChatGPT Health Launches, Another ChatGPT Breach, and an IKEA Matter Switch Review...

Privacy

On January 7th, 2026 OpenAI announced the launch of ChatGPT Health, "A dedicated experience in ChatGPT designed for health and wellness." There is currently a waitlist for early adopters. To participate, users would have to connect their health records and/or wellness apps to ChatGPT. OpenAI claims conversations in Health will not be used to train its foundation models, and that data is encrypted and isolated above its standards.

However, given ChatGPT's documented and reported upon history of falling victim to unauthorized access and data pilfering attacks, it is my recommendation that users absolutely not sign up for ChatGPT Health when it becomes available to them. [1]

Security

Ars Technica and others report another ChatGPT indirect prompt injection attack, named ZombieAgent, has been discovered by researchers at Radware. This attack coerces an AI agent into surreptitiously exfiltrating data directly from OpenAI's servers, bypassing traditional security safeguards. It can also permanently alter the agent in order to continue doing so. This class of attack is made more severe by the widespread and, in my opinion, reckless enterprise deployment of unvetted and unrestricted AI agents. Again, in my opinion, the increased attack surface and possibility of long term compromise is not worth any imperceptible efficiency gains from deploying AI agents across an entire organization. I would call this an unnecessary and entirely preventable risk. [2] [3]

Automation

In last month's newsletter, I highlighted the IKEA BILRESA Matter-enabled remote control, but was unable to purchase one as of writing. I can now report that the remote has arrived and been deployed with little effort. These buttons are a great way to control accessories and scenes in a Matter-enabled system and, due to their not needing a dedicated hub, are much cheaper than offerings from competitors like Philips. The two buttons can be configured with single press, double press, and long press actions for a total of six actions per remote. The remotes take two AAA batteries (not included) however I don't know how long they will last at this time. Perhaps tellingly, IKEA recommends "2 x LADDA rechargeable batteries HR03 AAA 1.2V." on the button's product page. The BILRESA remote is currently priced at $5.99 USD, however I had to purchase six in order to meet the $35 USD delivery threshold. Even with this minor inconvenience, these buttons came in at roughly half the cost of the dedicated Philips Hue Hub and dimmer switch they replaced. Highly recommended. [4]
